This is super inspiring my only problem is that food is twice as expensive in Taiwan. So a 400usd budget wouldn't be adequate to eat for a month here.

    I thought food would be relatively inexpensive in taiwan; somewhat similar to korea

    Food is inexpensive in Korea? That wasn't my experience. Taiwan is a tiny nation that has to have everything shipped in so a lot of the fruit and vegetables are crazy. But then again I haven't been in America in years so maybe they charge a dollar for an apple there too.

    agreed: fruits and vegetables are probably more expensive in Korea, but I thought going out to eat in Korea (non-western) restaurants was still relatively affordable. Is there a large standard of living difference between northern and southern Taiwan?

    where the hell are u guys eating in taiwan? A full meal with rice, main dish, couple of side dishes is only ~60NT or 2USD. That's cheaper then McDs for gods sake.
